This is a Palampore, a wall hanging.  This type of wall hanging was popular in both Europe and America during the 17th and 18th centuries.  Palampores were often imported to avoid the ban on importing calico cloth.  The palampore was a decoration and as such was not subject to the ban on fabric.  Once imported they were often cut up and made into clothing.  This palampore was made by my wife.  Blocks were used to print the border the central images were all done freehand, as was the case with many of the originals.  Please write for more information on hand-done palampores.
